The two okoumé cabinets of L'Art Room, ready to become picture walls

Exhibition · Paris 10

A pop up gallery for hire, at the back of a Paris courtyard.

Home · An exhibition

For a hang of a few days, a solo show, a collection preview or a fair week, L'Art Room offers what a gallery offers, without the rigidity. Designed by the artist Margaux Derhy, the room was made to show work: hand textured plaster walls, three metres of ceiling height, ceiling mirrors that echo the hang, glass panels onto the courtyard and adjustable track spotlights with dimmers.

Two picture walls on wheels

The two large okoumé cabinets are on castors. Rolled into the middle of the room, they become picture walls that can be hung on both sides. Tables and benches are stored inside, leaving forty square metres of open floor. Works are hung with nails, on the walls and on the cabinets.

During the major fairs

Paris Photo, Drawing Now, Art Paris: during the fairs, the room hosts galleries and publishers who want a space of their own for a private viewing, a book signing or a meeting with collectors, a short walk from Gare de l'Est.

After the opening

The fitted kitchen makes it easy to host on site, caterers and wine are welcome, and the evening can run until 9.30 pm on request.
